I am creating a gofundme for my best friend; Diane and her family. Diane is struggling with the sudden death of her husband of 30 years. Diane and I have been best friends for over 50 years. I have known her husband; Arnold for 40 years. These are very important people in my life. I love them all dearly. Diane and Arnold have three children; Justin, Christopher and Kassandra. Arnold is one of the nicest and kindest souls you could ever meet. Anyone who knows him, loves him. He’s smart, funny, caring and would do anything to help anyone. He’s even taken in a few people, into his own house, so they had a safe and loving home. On Friday March 1st, 2024, Arnold experienced a sudden cardiac arrest at work. There were no warning signs. He took good care of his health. Fortunately, his cardiac arrest was witnessed and a co-worker started CPR and defibrillated him quickly, before the ambulance arrived. He was rushed to The Jewish General Hospital. Despite receiving early CPR and defibrillation, he lacked oxygen to his brain for too long. He never regained consciousness. This was devastating! The Doctors and Nurses at JGH took such good care of him and his family in the ER and ICU. On March 20 th. 2024, it became clear Arnold was not going to wake up. We took Arnold off the ventilator and made him comfortable. He passed away at the end of the day with his son; Justin and his wife; Diane by his side. This is one of the hardest things you will ever experience in life: watching someone who you love with your heart and soul, pass away in front of you. Life isn’t fair and is difficult on a good day. Then add tremendous sadness at losing a wonderful human being and trying to comprehend why he left us so soon? Arnold was one of those people who was “good to the soul.” I am blessed to have known him and been part of his life. I cherish all the time we spent together and how much he loved my best friend everyday of his life. Diane and her family are struggling. Nobody ever wants to ask for help; we’re all too proud and don’t want to ask anyone for anything. Well, if I was rich, I would take away all their financial problems. Unfortunately, I live pay check to pay check, like most people. Hence, the go fund me. Diane and her family have a mortgage, two car payments, loans for house repairs and up-grades, the usual monthly bills, insurance, funeral expenses, etc..When the bank finds out your spouse has died, they freeze all your accounts. Now you can’t pay bills or access any money. This takes time to resolve and life insurance takes lots of time before kicking in. Now, Diane is off work. Her work place is closing down permanently in June. Now, she is unemployed. Now, I was brought up to help those in need. I really believe helping each other, helps bring us together and cope with difficult situations in life. It also makes me feel less helpless. I love this family. They have just experienced a horrible loss. They are sad and struggling. I want to help them. I know there are many people who also love them and don’t know how to help. Sending flowers is nice and thoughtful, but they are very expensive and get tossed shortly afterwards. The money would be better spent on helping them pay bills. This would help their stress and all the uncertainty about their future. I can’t Thank you enough for reading this. If you can help in anyway or form, please do. You can help make a big difference in their everyday life. This will help them survive the sadness and realities of life. Your kindness is more than appreciated and I will be forever grateful to you. Thank you!
