Update: We have extended Jim’s hotel stay an additional week. He has a meeting at the VA tomorrow, Feb 26th. He met with a different charity a couple days ago. We are hopeful we will find something permanent for him very soon.
Update: Added a new photo of Jim in his hotel room. We have extended Jim’s stay at the hotel for another week. We are still working on finding him permanent housing. The funds raised will be used to keep him at the hotel until he has a permanent place he can call home. We are also using the money to buy him food to eat while he’s in the hotel. If there’s money leftover at the end, it will go directly to Jim.
Jim is an 87-year-old veteran who has quietly been living on a bench at Water Tower Shoppes for years.
I met Jim just a few days ago. He is very sweet and loves to talk. I would now consider him to be a friend.
With a cold front moving in, Jim has been placed at the Melia for one week so he can rest somewhere warm.
The funds raised for Jim will help extend his stay at the Melia, provide food, and cover medical expenses. He receives a small monthly Social Security check, but it’s quickly stretched thin between his ongoing health issues (heart problems) and basic necessities.
Several caring people are working behind the scenes to find Jim permanent housing.
