My name is Karim Kara, I am a Kenyan filmmaker and conservation storyteller dedicated to telling stories that matter. My work has focused on environmental and social impact, giving a voice to those often overlooked - both human and animal. With years of experience in documentary production, sound, and visual storytelling, I approach this film not just as a project, but as a responsibility.
A little about the story
A Tale of Tails is a feature documentary uncovering the hidden world of unethical dog breeding and puppy mills in Kenya while also celebrating the deep bond between people and animals. Through the voices of rescuers, volunteers, veterinarians, and everyday Kenyans, the film reveals both the challenges dogs face and the growing movement determined to protect them. This is ultimately a story about compassion, responsibility, and the kind of society we choose to build.
Why this story is important
Many people simply don’t know what happens behind the scenes of unethical breeding. Without awareness, harmful practices continue unchecked. Film has the power to inform, shift attitudes, and inspire better choices from adoption to stronger welfare standards. By bringing this story into the open, we can encourage more humane treatment of animals and support the people working tirelessly to create change.
How the funds will be used
Your support will directly enable the completion of this documentary. Funds will go toward critical production needs including filming, sound recording, travel to capture essential stories, editing, color, and outreach so the film can reach audiences where it can make the greatest impact. Every contribution helps move this film from intention to action.
If you believe in kinder communities and the power of storytelling to spark change, I invite you to be part of this journey.
