Dear Friends, Family, and Kindhearted Strangers,
My name is Angelette. I have a close friend and classmate named Emilyn Bueno, who is a devoted wife and mother to two beautiful daughters. She is an international student here in Canada, working tirelessly to enhance her education and create a brighter future for her family. However, her journey took an unexpected and heartbreaking turn just as we were about to embark on our final semester. One month into our third semester, she discovered a lump on the back of her right thigh. Without hesitation, she sought medical advice and underwent a series of tests. Despite the pain she was enduring, she pushed through, attending classes, maintaining high grades, and helping us on our assignments and lessons, all while waiting for answers.
Last September 3, 2024 , on the very first day of our last semester, she received the devastating news from her doctor: She has Leiomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive soft tissue cancer. The shock of this diagnosis has left us heartbroken. She had just three months remaining before graduation, a time she had envisioned filled with hope and new beginnings for her family. Instead, she is now faced with the reality of daily radiation treatments for the next five weeks, followed by surgery.
While we are grateful that the treatments are covered, some necessary medications are not included in their private insurance plan. Additionally, the cost of transportation to the hospital for her daily treatments amounts to $90 each day. Unfortunately, free transportation is not guaranteed, as there are days when volunteer drivers are unavailable.
This is where we turn to you. We are reaching out for your prayers, support, and any financial assistance you can provide. Every dollar counts and will directly help alleviate the burden of medical expenses and transportation costs during this challenging time.
Emilyn is determined to fight this battle and graduate with her degree, but she cannot do it alone. Your kindness and generosity will make a world of difference for her family as they navigate this difficult journey.
Thank you for taking the time to read her story. Please share this campaign with others who may be willing to help. Together, we can make a difference in her fight against cancer.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Anj
