Support to the Batey Family

I am starting this fundraiser to help support my dear friend Heather and her husband Barry. Barry was just recently diagnosed with a rare and progressive cancer Aug 24th. Barry and Heather were blindsided with this diagnosis, and within couple months' time their world has been turned upside down. The cancer diagnosis was not caught quickly enough and has metastasized to the pelvis.

Barry finally was able to get the treatment he needs at Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston. He has received his first round of radiation therapy and chemotherapy in Boston. During this time, Heather never left his side and was with him every day, sleeping on a recliner in his room.

Barry and Heather are two of the most honest, hard working people I know. What little spare time they had outside of work was spent with boating, fishing, cooking and enjoying their family and friends. Now all their time is consumed with worrying what the next day will hold. Seeing someone you love hurt, is one of the hardest things in the world to experience. I know my sadness and concern for them is only a fraction of what Heather must be feeling right now, and what Barry is suffering through now, I just can't even fathom.

Please help in any way you can. Another round of chemotherapy and radiation will be expected. All donations will be put towards medical and travel expenses and time taken away work for Barry, and for Heather so she can continue to be there for him.
