It is no secret- wherever 16-year-old Aldo goes, smiles and touched hearts follow. Resilience, courage, fearlessness: These words describe  ALDO's journey. 

Many call Aldo a hero: 
He has been fighting a battle against cancer for 15 years. Aldo was first diagnosed when he was a year old. Throughout his life, he has faced this foe through love and strength. He has had the courage to laugh and joke at the simplicities of life and the ability to be positive and embrace gratitude through worship. Aldo has touched and humbled the lives of every person he has met. 

"Super" Aldo Aguilar was diagnosed with Astrocytoma (cancer in his brain). The This teen has been subjected to multiple neurosurgeries, chemotherapies, and radiation. Throughout the years, they in turn have left him blind and paralyzed on of half of his body. 

On Tuesday, May 22nd, Aldo experienced a series of seizures and difficulty breathing.  He was rushed to the Intensive Care Unit at Rady Children’s Hospital. His seizures are constant, and doctors working on his case are still unsure as to the cause of these seizures. He is unable to breathe on his own, and hasn't been awake since then.

Aldo's parents have had to call off work in order to care for their youngest son. Aldo's dad suffered an accident at work where he burned his eye and as a result, he was given limited hours. Because Aldo's dad is currently working two jobs to make ends meet, even one day off causes a significant financial strain on the family. 

This road has been rough. Aldo has faced battles most of us won’t experience in our lives. Despite the challenge, Aldo has chosen to be a positive young man with a gracious attitude. He proudly carries a contagious smile on his face. He is a loving son, brother, and a student at Valhalla High School. He loves going to the beach to hear the sound of the ocean and loves to sing his favorite Mariachi and worship songs from the top of his lungs.
