SUNSET HILL ACATEMY
RESCUE ORGANIZATION HELPING FERAL CAT COLONIES IN WESTCHESTER & NYC
This year I’m finally in process of getting
Sunset Hill Acatemy set up as a non profit 501c3!
Other than that, it’s business as usual and the 2023 kitten season as been another overwhelming year. In addition to my own colony “regulars” and the many colonies I’ve TNRd (Trap, Neuter, Return), I’m overwhelmed with kittens and pregnant queens needing attention. With the short winter, kittens were arriving earlier than ever and I expect to see more litters appearing well into Fall. In addition to a busy kitten season, I’m experiencing a growing number of friendly strays and abandoned young cats at colonies I help to maintain.
The shelters and rescues I work with to help find loving homes for these kitties are all at capacity due to low adoption rates this year. Many are not accepting anymore animals and turning away animal rescuers like myself who are living in underserved communities with a severe lack of animal welfare resources.
Can I rely on you to help raise money for me to continue to provide food, supplies, transportation, and medical attention for community cats that receive my care? In addition to my own colony “regulars” and the many colonies.
Although it is kitten season and a very busy one, we are beginning to see a difference in the efforts we’ve put forth over the years. There has been a drop in the number of stray kittens found in the radius of our colonies as well as the number of sick and injured adult cats. In recent years, more derelict houses in this area have emerged and serve as hiding grounds for them. These structures are dangerous for them due to raccoons and other wildlife competing for food and shelter.
In order to provide a better quality of life Sunset Hill Acatemy provides the community cats of Sunset Hill and neighboring communities in the Bronx with weather proof feeding stations and insulated dens so they can safely shelter during the harsh winter months. We also feed daily rain or shine. Lastly, we actively monitor the area regularly for new faces and rehome if appropriate using fosters and other rescue groups.

Please help Sunset Hill Acatemy continue its work to keep these animals healthy and safe.
