Help Sunny See Again: Support Her Eye Surgery

My bunny, Sunny, needs urgent eye surgery due to a cataract in her left and right. Some vets have suspected E. cuniculi may be the cause of the cataracts, however, I will have to wait until test results show.

Her eye problem began around the beginning of the year. She was taken to our vet and given treatment, but the damage to the eye has already been done and the cataract has continued to grow a bit causing occasional inflammation and pain in the eye. She can't see out of her left eye too much, sadly. I've been doing everything I can to monitor the eye and give medication when inflammation occurs.

So far, I've been given two options:

1) Surgery to remove the cataract, allowing sunny to see again.

2) Enucleation, eye removal, which is more affordable, but the thought of her losing her eye hurts, especially at her age.

Eye Surgery is strongly recommended given the current condition of her eye. The ophthalmologist at UGA said there is a good to "guarded" prognosis for eye surgery is treated sooner rather than later. If left untreated, then eye removal with be the best option to relieve her of any pain caused by the cataract or possible development of glaucoma. The cataract in her right eye is at its early stages, so the success rate of surgery is higher, but if left untreated the same will happen.

Her surgery will take place at the University of Georgia (UGA) which specializes in ophthalmology for all species and is estimated to cost around $4,500 - $5,000.

Every little bit helps and your support means the world to us. All funds raised will go directly toward Sunny’s medical costs.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read Sunny’s story. With your help, Sunny will be able to see again!
