My name is Katie, and I am a proud mom to Sunny, who has Down syndrome and is currently nonverbal. We are both huge Disney fans, and Sunny's favorite character is Mickey Mouse. He loves watching Mickey Mouse shows and cuddling with his Mickey plush every night. One of the few words he can say is "Mickey Mouse," which always brings a smile to my face.

This summer, we will be attending the National Down Syndrome Conference in Orlando, Florida. Since we will be right next to Disney World, I would love to take Sunny for a special one-day visit to the park.

I went once as a child, but this would be a meaningful experience for us to share together. It would give Sunny the chance to see his favorite characters in person and enjoy a truly magical day designed with his needs in mind.

The funds raised will help cover park tickets, Lightning Lane passes to reduce long waits, meals in the park and on the way home, a couple of small souvenirs, and gas for our return trip.

As a special needs mom, my greatest hope is to create joyful, accessible experiences for my child and help him enjoy life to the fullest.
