If you asked anyone in my life one thing about me, they'd probably tell you this first--she loves her cat. And it's true. Sunny came into my life in 2021 as a rescue cat that my mom found on Craigslist. He was terrified when he first got to our house. He hid under my bed, quietly observing me for 3 days. I barely saw him, as he would only come out to eat or use the litterbox when I was asleep...until one day, I felt a little thump on the bed. Sunny jumped up to see me! He came up to me, purring loudly and headbutting me. I had finally earned his trust. I remember thinking then, wow... this is going to be an amazing cat. And I was so right.

Sunny and I have been inseparable since. He sleeps with me every night, follows me everywhere from my bedroom to the bathroom to the kitchen... He sometimes even waits in the window for me to come home. He's been there for me through the hardest times of my life. So when he started having asthma attacks, my heart broke. I've been struggling to find a job these past few months, but I owe it to him to do everything I can to get him the treatment he needs.

I've called his vet and done research online for estimates. His first appointment will probably be a physical exam and x-rays to diagnose the issues. He may then need additional testing as well as inhalers and medication. If anyone is interested in the financial estimate breakdown, I'll add it below.

I apologize for even having to ask for help. If it was for me, I don't think I could bring myself to do this. But Sunny means everything to me. I can't stand idly by and let his condition get worse. I feel so helpless watching him have those attacks. So here I am, exhausting all my options.

That being said, times are hard for everyone right now. Please don't give anything you can't afford to part with. If you can't afford to give anything, sharing this link helps a lot too. Thank you endlessly for even reading this.

Here's some information I've found for financial estimates:
(Adams, C. (2025, July 6). How Much Does Cat Asthma Treatment Cost? 2025 Update. Catster. )

"The cost of treating feline asthma varies so greatly due to the differing severities of the condition. Some cats may not need anything more than a drug that costs $10 to $20 each month. Other cats might need much more expensive medications, including inhalers. This can cost up to $250 each month. Since cats are treated based on their symptoms, the cost will reflect how severe those symptoms are.

Long-lasting cortisone injections may be necessary for your cat’s treatment. One injection can last up to 8 weeks. The cost of these injections is usually $1.40–$2.80 per day.

Oral cortisone can be given in addition to injections. If these medications are recommended for your cat, they can cost anywhere from $0.25–$2.00 per day. The more expensive medications include compounded forms like chewable tabs and flavored liquids.

Inhalers or bronchodilators may also be necessary for your cat, and these are expensive treatments. The most expensive inhaler costs close to $500. Other inhalers can cost $50–$86 and up. If your cat requires an inhaler, there are options. However, less-expensive inhalers may not work as effectively on your cat’s symptoms."
