My name is RK (Rajagopal Kamesh Raghunathan), and I am raising funds for my sister, Sunitha, who is fighting stage 4 metastatic triple-negative breast cancer in Mumbai, India.
Sunitha is a mother of two young children and the heart of her family. Every extra month of life, strength, and presence with her children means everything. That is what this fight is about for us now.
For more than three years, she has been battling this disease with remarkable courage. Over the course of her illness, she has gone through surgery, radiation, immunotherapy, multiple lines of chemotherapy, and endless hospital visits. Her medical records show an aggressive metastatic form of breast cancer, and despite extensive prior treatment, her disease has continued to progress. Her records also show prior treatment with Sacituzumab Govitecan (Trodelvy).
To make sure we were doing everything possible, we sought a second opinion from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in the United States. Their consultation reviewed her case in detail and supported continuing her current therapy as long as it remains beneficial and tolerable, with the goals of slowing progression, preserving quality of life, and extending life when possible.
This treatment may not promise a cure. But if it can give Sunitha more meaningful time, more strength, and even a few more months with her children, that is priceless to us.
The challenge is the cost.
We are told that continuing Trodelvy, along with importing it to India and covering related treatment expenses, may cost roughly $50,000 for the next course of care. With ongoing chemotherapy, scans, consultations, hospital visits, medicines, and supportive care, the overall near-term cost of care is significantly higher, which is why we have set our fundraising goal at $100,000. Sunitha is currently wheelchair-bound and needs significant physical support as she continues treatment.
Her family has already exhausted insurance, savings, and investments. Their lives now revolve around treatment decisions, hospital visits, financial stress, and uncertainty, all while carrying the burden of a home loan and an education loan. What began as a private family struggle has become more than they can manage alone.
That is why I am reaching out for help.
The funds raised through this campaign will go toward:
Trodelvy and Other Essential Cancer Medicines
Chemotherapy and Hospital Treatments
Scans, Specialist Consultations, and Supportive Care
Physiotherapy, Symptom Management, and Mobility Support
Other Critical Treatment-Related Expenses During This Period
Transparency note: I live in the United States and will personally withdraw all net funds received through this fundraiser into a dedicated U.S. bank account, and then transfer them to Sunitha in India for her treatment and care. GoFundMe requires organizers raising for someone in an unsupported country to receive the funds themselves and explain how the money will be delivered.
Any contribution, however small, will help. If many people give even a little, it can make a real difference for Sunitha and her family. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser. That alone would mean a great deal to us.
We are simply trying to give Sunitha the best possible chance to keep fighting — and to give her more time with the people who love and need her most.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, support, and prayers.
