A week ago, my cat Sundae suddenly stopped eating, which was very unusual for her. She’s always been a gluttonous cat, so I knew something was wrong right away. I took her to the vet immediately, but despite our best efforts, we couldn’t identify the root cause of her sudden loss of appetite. I tried everything I could think of—changing her food, offering softer treats in case her mouth was hurting—but nothing seemed to help. With a prescription from the vet, we’ve managed to get her eating a little, but it’s still much less than normal. Now, the next steps are more involved and expensive: Sundae will need to be sedated so the vet can investigate if there are any issues with her mouth, and then she’ll need scans of her chest and stomach to see if the problem is there.

This is all happening at a tough time for me financially. I was out of work most of last year due to layoffs, and although I’ve just started a new job, my savings have been wiped out. I simply don’t have the means to pay for Sundae’s vet bills right now, even though I want nothing more than to help her get better.

To me, Sundae is more than a pet—she’s family. She’s a very sociable cat who loves people and is always eager to make new friends. She’s comforted me through so many tough times and never leaves my side. I’ll do anything to make sure she gets the best care available.
