Help Sun-Jae Graduate from Cranbrook !
Donation protected
Sun-Jae Park is a second year graduate student at Cranbrook Academy of Art with a single semester left in the program. He is a pillar of the student community, frequently having work on view in the on campus gallery, co-organizing Cinema Club, and bringing joy to all as an incredible karaoke performer. Beyond academics, his work was recently featured in the inaugural Detroit Art Fair this fall, as well as in a solo installation with the DIY project FLATE SPACE Gallery.
Due to recent unforeseen financial obstacles, Sun-Jae is unable to enroll for the final semester of grad school and receive his degree. We can't let that happen! A single semester left for a masters degree is no way to go. Without secured funding Sun-Jae will have to return to South Korea by January 5 and reapply to school at a later date--delaying his degree by three to four years.
We are a group of Cranbrook grad students that have come together across departments to make sure Sun-Jae can graduate with us. It would be a tremendous loss not only for Sun-Jae, but for ALL of us -- who learn so much from him in this unique community. His voice, work, and presence is vital to our cohort, and we won't let him go without a fight. Sun-Jae makes us laugh, brightens our days and challenges us to think deeper through his commitment to his practice and be more considerate. This is why we need your help!
Please join us in giving whatever you can, no amount too small. Even Sharing with your community would be a great help! Give the gift of art education this season.
