Help Summer with Charlie's Medical Expenses

Charlie is a playful, sweet, and adorable cat whose human mommy, Summer Moroschok-Labrado, loves him with all her heart. In 2019, after moving several times, dealing with difficult personal issues, and adjusting to living alone, Summer decided to adopt Charlie. He filled her life with joy and companionship and eased her loneliness. That same year, Summer’s grandmother who raised her, passed away and Charlie became her means of comfort and support during some of her darkest days. The bond between them is indescribable.

In 2021 on Christmas day, Charlie began having issues urinating resulting in a $330.00 trip to the Emergency Vet. (These types of conditions can be fatal for male cats) Because Charlie was not showing any signs of pain and the cost of doing tests was so extreme, the Vet sent him home with medication to be monitored. At this point, Charlie seemed to improve.

Unfortunately, Charlie took a turn for the worse on January 24th and was rushed to the Emergency Vet who drained his bladder and ordered several different tests plus blood work. The cost of these services amounted to $1,994.00 along with the devastating news that Charlie would need emergency surgery to remove 3 bladder stones which would cost another $2,000.00 plus $70.00 for medication. The current total expenses of $4,394.00, does not factor in possible follow-up appointments or the time that Summer will need to take off work in order to care for Charlie as he recuperates.

Summer has been dating my son, Michael, for over a year now and I consider her part of my family. Since I have known her, I have watched her countless times step-up to do things for others. From making them beautiful quilts, baking goodies or helping someone move, she is always supporting her friends and family. She is generous and kind and deserves our help!

As anyone who lives in California knows, it is extremely difficult to live on only a single income. Charlie’s medical expenses are placing an extreme burden on her financially.
