Between late November and December 2025, severe flooding and landslides affected three provinces in Sumatra, Indonesia, resulting in widespread destruction of homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods. According to the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), over 1,000 fatalities have been reported, hundreds remain missing, and more than one million individuals have been displaced.
Access to essential services remains critically limited, particularly in remote areas isolated by landslides. Displaced populations face acute shortages of food, clean water, and basic medical care, placing vulnerable groups—especially children and the elderly—at heightened risk.
RAY OF HOPE is implementing an emergency response focused on the provision of food assistance, clean water, medical supplies, and essential relief items to affected communities.

From late November through December 2025, catastrophic floods and massive landslides devastated three provinces in Sumatra, Indonesia. Entire villages were swept away, thousands of homes destroyed, and families were forced to flee with nothing but the clothes they were wearing.
According to Indonesia’s National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), more than 1,000 lives have been lost, hundreds of people remain missing, and over one million survivors are now living in overcrowded evacuation shelters with extremely limited access to food, clean water, and medical care. Many remote communities remain completely isolated as landslides have blocked roads and cut off aid.
Children are going hungry. Elderly people are at risk of severe malnutrition. Families are forced to drink rainwater and survive on uncooked instant noodles due to the lack of clean water and cooking fuel.
Our Response
RAY OF HOPE is a community-based humanitarian organization working directly with affected communities across Indonesia. We are on the ground responding to this emergency and coordinating aid delivery to the most severely impacted areas.
We are raising $150,000 to provide urgent, life-saving assistance to 3,000 displaced families.
