Hi my name is Sully, I'm a 5 month old Golden Retriever and I've been welcomed into my forever family just a few weeks ago, I can tell they are all already obsessed with me!
Although I'm a Goldie, I'm actually really small, 10kgs infact, and no matter how much I eat I just don't seem to gain much weight or get much bigger, but that doesn't stop me from playing with my two new besties, Honey the kitten and Lilah the 18 month old baby!
Recently my family has discovered I'm actually not just small, but actually I'm quite sick and I'm going to need lots of love and help to get better. . .
A week after we brought Sully home he suddenly collapsed on the floor, barely conscious, we took him to the emergency Vet where he was brought back from the brink and stayed for 4 days getting better. Initially we thought this was a localised incident but upon further checks with our regular vet we discovered abnormal blood results. We were referred to a medical specialist for further investigations and after a CT we discovered Sully has a intrahepatic portosystemic shunt, in other words, his liver isn't able to do its job and his body is absorbing toxins, which is why Sully is so small and constantly sick.
This is fixable, with specialist surgery and through diet and medicine Sully can live a full long healthy life.
Currently our vet bills, prescription diet food and medicine costs are reaching an overwhelming amount and the cash flow is starting to dwindle. Even though we have pet insurance we aren't guaranteed they will cover any of his bills as it's a congenital abnormality and so far have been out of pocket for everything.
We love Sully, he is a sweet, smart, kind and loyal loving pup who has had a really terrible start and deserves to live his life to its full potential.
If you are in a position to help in anyway, please donate or share. Please help us give Sully every chance at being the most amazing dog we already know he is!
