Sullivan was a surprise addition to our family. He is a senior Great Dane that my uncle found abandoned on the side of the highway. He went from the trunk of the car to the shelter, where we thought he would start a new journey without us.
Unfortunately, due to his condition, he was deemed unadoptable, and if a rescue or we did not want him, his only option was euthanasia.
Sullivan had been through so much; it wouldn't be right for his life to end there. His recovery was not smooth, but through his resilience, he went from barely being able to make it down a few steps to strutting around the neighborhood.
He has come a long way these past few months, but has recurring medical issues that require intensive care, mostly due to his skin issues and allergies. Since December 2024, we have been taking him for monthly visits to Alta View Hospital to manage his skin sensitivities and arthritis. Typically, spending $200 per visit.
Recently, poor Sullivan has suffered an infection in his paw, which we believe was caused by a foxtail that required a drainage tube to be inserted. Please help us provide Sullivan the best care possible in his last years. His vet estimated he is around 9 years old. Being a giant breed, this is on the later side of his life expectancy. We hope to keep him as comfortable and as happy as possible for as long as he is willing to go.
Funds will go towards covering his surgery costs for the injury to his paw, which have totaled over $3,500 to date, not including his weekly check-ups with the vet to ensure he is healing properly.
