Help Us Save Our Puppy, Suki

As many of you know, we adopted our sweet puppy, Suki, on November 9th, and instantly fell in love. She was quickly becoming a part of our family—learning basic commands, bonding with us (surprisingly, the cats as well), and wanting nothing more than to be near her new people. Everything felt perfect.

But in the early morning hours of November 15th, everything changed. We woke up for her usual late-night potty break and found Suki in her crate vomiting, shaking, and refusing water. When we got her outside, her diarrhea had suddenly worsened. We had been told her diarrhea from day one was normal “puppy adjustment,” but we didn’t know it was actually the first sign of something serious.

Trusting our gut, we called the emergency vet and rushed her in. On the way, Suki declined rapidly—panting, vomiting, and struggling. At the ER, she was immediately tested for canine parvovirus, something we had never even heard of as first-time dog owners. The test came back positive.

We were devastated. We had only had her six days. She was supposedly fully vaccinated. She had never been anywhere but our home and yard. The vet confirmed she must have contracted parvo before coming to us, likely during transport, and not from anything we did.

Suki is now hospitalized in isolation, fighting for her life. The costs have already reached nearly $5,000, and the bills will continue as she receives intensive care and will also need to be fully re-vaccinated if she survives. We cannot visit her due to the severity and contagiousness of the virus. We are emotionally drained and terrified of losing our baby.

We have asked the shelter for help, but they have refused any support. This GoFundMe is our last option. We hate asking, but we want to give our Suki baby every chance to come home healthy and happy.
