For the past two years, our dear friend Sujoy Chakravarty has been facing glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer, with strength, and resilience. Throughout this incredibly difficult journey, Sujoy and his family have silently borne the burgeoning expenses without seeking help.

Sujoy is now completely bedridden, his left side almost paralyzed for months now, and as we write this note, his doctors are preparing for Hospice care. Our days with our dear friend are numbered at this point. Over these months of this intense care, the family has hired attendants to cater to his everyday needs. The treatment, rehabilitation expenses, multiple ambulatory services needs and home care, which have not been covered by insurance, have taken a significant toll on their emotional and financial well-being. In a few weeks, they will also need to bear the expenses of high unforeseen expenses.

Now, as friends who care, we feel it’s time to extend our support. To help ease this immense burden, we have set a fundraising goal of $99,000. This amount reflects both the outstanding medical and caregiving expenses the family has already borne and the anticipated costs they will soon face.

This fundraiser is our way of surrounding them with love, support, and practical assistance: be it easing the burden of medical expenses, or helping with daily needs, or simply creating space for time together, and then his final journey.
