Hi everyone, I’m Georgina — or “George” to most of you — the baker behind Sugar Lane Cakes here in Rhyl, North Wales.
What started as a tiny dream in my home kitchen has grown into something truly special. From birthday cakes and brownies to our much-loved Cake Shed, Sugar Lane Cakes has become part of so many of your celebrations, your treat days, and your “just because” moments. Every message, photo, and bit of feedback means the world to me — because this little business was built with love, flour, sugar, and a whole lot of heart.
But now, I’ve hit a wall… or rather, four of them!
My current home kitchen is bursting at the seams. Between baking for the Cake Shed, preparing orders, and keeping up with all your amazing support, I’ve simply outgrown the space. There are days when I have trays balancing on every surface, and my mixer barely fits where it should!
That’s why I’m reaching out for help — something I’ve never found easy to do — to raise funds to build a bigger, purpose-built kitchen in my garden. This space would mean:
✨ More room to bake and create – allowing me to produce more of your favourites (and new ones too!)
✨ A safer, more organised workspace – designed for proper food prep, allergen separation, and storage.
✨ Better accessibility for growth – with space to host small workshops, prepare for markets, and take on more local events.
✨ A future for Sugar Lane Cakes – not just for me, but as something sustainable for my family and community.
This kitchen would be built on the same little plot where Sugar Lane Cakes began — right at home — keeping everything local, handmade, and full of that familiar warmth you all love.

Our Funding Goal
I’m aiming to raise £5,000 to help build and fit out a dedicated Sugar Lane Cakes kitchen right here in my garden. Every penny will go directly towards:
Building materials & structure – creating a safe, weatherproof space for baking.
⚡ Plumbing & electrics – installing proper sinks, lighting, and outlets for mixers and ovens.
Essential equipment – additional ovens, cooling racks, prep tables, and storage.
Finishing touches & compliance – flooring, ventilation, and hygiene-standard fittings.
This new kitchen will mean I can bake more efficiently, safely, and sustainably — and keep the Cake Shed stocked with your favourite brownies, cookie pies, and cakes all year round.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings me one step closer to making this dream a reality. Thank you so much for supporting Sugar Lane Cakes and helping me grow my little business with love, one bake at a time
