If you are from Clarion, Iowa you've probably seen my Aunt Sue and Uncle Keith riding their bikes around town or just out and about. If you are one of the lucky ones to know these two personally then you already love them. My Aunt Sue is one of the most selfless people I know, she is always willing to help others no matter the situation. She has always been more concerned with her family and friends than of herself. She loves to spend time outside, whether it is camping or riding bikes or traveling. She is so full of adventure and has spent the last year getting as many adventures in as she could.
My Aunt sue has been battling Mascular Degeneration (wet), which causes loss in the center of the field of vision, for years. She has had to endure many shots into her eyes in an effort to prolong the life of her vision. All the while remaining the most positive person. She never complained, even when she probably wanted to. She kept being an uplifting soul and brought out the silver lining in every possible situation. While her eyesight slowly started to fade more and more it became impossible to work any longer. Sue had worked at Hagie Manufacturing for years and truly loved her job and the people she had the pleasure of working with. Many of her co-workers loved Sue and the sunshine she brought to the workplace. With her newfound time she spent the better part of the year planning out trips and things she wanted to see while she still could. Her and Keith made as many of the trips happen as they could and made wonderful life long memories that they get to look back on.
In February 2021 Aunt Sue found out that even after battling against breast cancer (and winning) and mascular degeneration for years, her fight is not over. She was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer that mastized to her liver. After her diagnosis she was more concerned with how this would effect her husband, daughter, grandchildren, and extended family than with her own livelihood. She remains positive despite this news and is enjoying spending so much time with her husband and the many friends that have stopped by to see her.
Her and Keith are trying to navigate through this terrible time the best they know how. They have been fighting with social security to help with medical costs but are losing that battle. Sue has been unemployed for over a year with no income and now Keith is taking time off to spend the time he has left with his wife. With no household income and medical expenses that are inevitable I figured we all could help this amazing couple out the best we can. The funds raised will go straight to an account I set up at First State Bank in Clarion for Keith and Sue. These funds will help cover medical costs, the costs of traveling to appointments, and any unforseen expenses along the way. If you'd rather donate the money straight to their account you can, that is set up at First State Bank in clarion. If you are unable to donate but still want to help, Sue love getting notes and cards. If you'd like to send her a card you can send to 602 N Main St, Clarion
Thank you!
