Help Sue receive life prolonging medication

Hi we are fundraising for our very close friend Sue who in December 2020, found a lump on her throat which turned out to be Anaplastic Thyroid Cancer, the most aggressive form of thyroid cancer. After an operation to remove her thyroid gland, she underwent a course of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Even on her low days when the treatment was gruelling, when she lost her voice, was unable to swallow, experienced all of the other effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy, she remained positive. Sadly, we were devastated to hear that the cancer had spread, requiring further treatment that will hopefully prolong Sue’s life by a few more months. There is a drug that we hope Sue will be able to take as an alternative to chemotherapy. It is not available on the NHS and is currently only available in Japan and therefore has a cost of £5,000 per month. The benefit of such a treatment is she would be able to prolong the normality of daily family life, have less aggressive side effects and have a less negative impact on her immune system.

Sue Miller, her two children, Jess and Finn, and menagerie of cats and dogs have been a huge part of our small village community for the past 22 years. Sue is one of the kindest, most generous, most inspirational of people. She fully embraces life to the full and her zest for life and positivity is infectious. If you are ever having a tough time you just need to spend a few hours with Sue and she will have you smiling and laughing at the end of it!!

Sue throws herself into all aspects of village life. She has run the village toddler group, taking her own children as well as the numerous children, she has childminded over the years. She has also been involved in running the village youth club, she has been on the pre-school committee, as well as running her own highly successful after school club. Sue is a modern day “Mary Poppins” who embodies loyalty, friendship and fun. Everyone needs a Sue Miller in their lives!!
