Many of you know my mother was sick and in a skilled bed in a nursing home. Before she was better, Medicare said she would no longer be covered as she was able to walk 120 feet with minimal help. I knew she wasn’t better and appealed for continuing coverage. It was denied. We decided to pay out of pocket because we knew she was ready to go home. A few weeks later, while in the nursing home, she fell (May 27th). She ended up breaking the ball off the top of her femur and had to have hip replacement. 15 days later, they say she no longer needs to be there and will stop paying again. She can’t walk, go to the bathroom or do much else. We definitely need to keep her there and need support paying out of pocket.
