Our sweet boy, Orion Conger, was in a terrible automobile accident on February 11, 2025. He has been in the Hartford Hospital since and has undergone a number of surgeries. He is alive and miraculously not paralysed!
He broke his back in two places and has had surgery to fuse the spine in the two places to stabilize the two broken bones. He still needs a second ankle/ foot surgery as he badly broke his right ankle. He will very likely not be able to put any weight on his foot to walk for two or three months and he will need a lot of physical therapy. He also sustained a traumatic brain injury, is recovering, but his vision in his left eye still needs to be evaluated.
Unfortunately, Orion was between jobs and did not have health insurance. He will be unable to work for some time and the plan is for him to stay with his mother while he heals.
We humbly request that you please contribute to Orion and his mother Sue to help cover the costs of needed equipment and time off work to manage his healthcare appointments and support his recovery. While FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act) will allow time off from work, and not threaten the loss of her job, time off will largely be without pay. She will still need to pay the mortgage, utilities, get a hospital bed, wheelchair, and feed her healing son.
Sue had been doing some renovations on her house and is still without a kitchen sink. It would be very helpful to get support to set up the house in order for her son to be able to convalesce comfortably there.
We appreciate your concerns, assistance, and ongoing prayers for his rapid and complete recovery.
