Hello!
I’m Sue Kreidler, a government employee originally from a small community in SW Michigan. Due to the very long government shutdown, it’s embarrassing that I find myself in urgent need for rent money this month. I’m furloughed but have been working daily and not being paid. I paid all my bills in October and had no idea this would go on for as long as it has. Unemployment in Georgia takes 3-4 weeks and must be paid back after.
To add insult to injury, I got a huge promotion, but on the very day I was to receive my increase, the government shut down. As well, there are some personnel getting paid, and I am in charge of facilitating their pay.
Also, as some of you know, I drove across the country by myself for this promotion in a 32’ rig (the truck and car carrier), 3709 miles dodging storms, which I paid for as the government does not cover these expenses. I worked two side (part-time) jobs before my move, but I have not been given permission to work side jobs here, despite my repeated requests.
I’ve always paid rent on time and was told I wouldn’t have a late fee because of my good payment history. However, rent was due on November 3rd, and despite regular communication with my landlords, they almost immediately served me with a notice threatening legal action on November 4th.
Also, I’ve gone through a 3-page list of resources for furloughed workers and attempted to get a loan, but I’m out of options. I have attempted to sell some items and tried to access my TSP funds but cannot until 2026; they said no exceptions.
If you, or someone you know, can help me, I would appreciate it. I need $2500 as soon as possible in order to pay rent and my car payment.
I’m very grateful for any assistance if you can help. Also, if possible, please share this with those who could help or on social media; that would mean so much to me.
Thank you,
Sue
