Hello Everyone -
I'm just going to get right to the point. In July of 2020 Sue Schaffner was diagnosed with Nonalcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. She has been to see a liver specialist in Denver, who has confirmed she has stage 4 cirrhosis, there is no treatment to reverse or slow the progression of her disease, ultimately she needs a liver transplant. At this time she is on several medications to help with the many side effects of this disease and will continue to need other medical procedures to help manage her condition. Our hope is that one of her children or many grandchildren with be a match for a living donor transplant in the near future.
My parents do not have the funds needed to cover all this as they are living off minimal social security. Sue currently does not have health insurance to help cover the cost associated with any doctor visits, procedures, test or medications. Unfortunately Sue will not be eligible for heath insurance or Medicare until November. At this time they are trying to pay all cost out of pocket and needless to say, the bills are adding up fast!
Sue has always been the first to help when anyone needed it. She has donated her time in various ways through out the years to help others, so now we are asking our family and friends to help her in her time of need!
