My name is Sue Carney, and I am a Certified Music Practitioner-in-training. I am fundraising because my final class is being held in Baltimore, and I will be traveling across the country from Oregon. These travel expenses are the only obstacle left between me and this certification.
About Certified Music Practitioners
A Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), provides live, therapeutic music at the bedside, to address the needs of patients who are ill, dying, birthing, or in a transition of any type.
All may benefit from this treatment, which does not seek to cure, but instead helps to create an ideal environment for healing.
CMPs are part of the integrative health teams in today's medical facilities. They work alongside other medical professionals, and play similar roles to chiropractors, physical therapists, massage therapists, and acupuncturists.
They must be both skilled musicians, who are compassionate, observant, and responsive to the immediate needs of the patient.

Why I Want to do This Work
I've been a professional musician, composer, and producer throughout my life, and I have always been amazed at the power of music, and the transformative effects it can have on people.
The idea that music can be used directly to ease the suffering of those who are in need is one of the most beautiful things I have ever come across. Music has always been my calling. This is another deep calling, and a path with heart.
