Hello!
My name is Sue. I just finished training to become a substitute teacher.
While at the training,  I was told of an opportunity offered by the Department of Public Instruction to become a Special Education Teacher.

I thought THAT is what I want to do! 

Then I found out the cost.

$9000.00 and I need some of that by August 20th. 

The cost breakdown is this :

$75  for the registration paperwork

$600 after I am accepted into the program

$840 a month for 10 months 

and I will then be certified by the state of Wisconsin to teach special ed
(once I pass all the tests)

Can I do this? Of course I can. As my husband says I can do anything I set my mind to.
I got my bachelors degree in 18 months through a special program at Concordia University in 1997.  I graduated CumLaude. My last semester of school I earned 47 credits by testing out of most of them. 


WHY do I want to do this?

I have 5 sons. 4 of them have disabilities. 2 are hearing impaired 2 are Autistic one is Neurotypical. I have been dealing with disability issues for 26 years with my kids, 20 years with them in the school system. I have been on the parent side of the table. 

I have known great teachers. Passionate, creative people who have inspired kids to want to learn more. I want to be that person for someone.  I want to help a child reach their goals. I want help a young adult find their path. 

Help me do this please. 
My first goal is to get into the program 

$ 675.00

The second will be to pay for the first months tuition

 $840.00

From there I will be working while going to this training. It is my hope that I will be able to pay for most of the training out of my earnings as a Substitute teacher. Hopefully I will get enough hours to do so.
I will need to teach a minimum of 8 days a month to pay for the training.

So that is it. I want to help kids. This education will make it possible.
