Support Sudanese Refugees in Uganda this Ramadan

Dear Family and Friends,

My name is Hashem Mekki. I am a Sudanese American who grew up in Sudan during an earlier war, before immigrating to Egypt and then the USA. Ten months ago, war broke out in Sudan once again, creating one of the biggest humanitarian crises in the world and causing the displacement of over 8 million people. My own family is still stuck in Khartoum as the fighting continues. There is little food and few services. 

I now live in Uganda, which is serving as a safe haven for refugees, including Sudanese. Thousands of Sudanese families have arrived here after harrowing journeys, leaving their belongings and often family members behind. In Uganda, most are staying in a refugee settlement which is overflowing with new arrivals. Most lack access to secure jobs and have been struggling to put food on the table or send their children to school.

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches  (approximately March 10-April 9), please extend help to enable them to buy food and ensure their children are healthy and safe.

All donated funds will go directly to supporting 500 vulnerable refugee families in Uganda (mostly women, children, and elderly) to purchase food items. Your contributions will make a difference in the lives of people that have experienced far too much adversity.
