Help Sub Edge Farm Replace Hay Equipment After Fire.

Donation protected
Hello, we are the Phillips family from Sub Edge Farm in Farmington and Avon, Connecticut. We are a diversified, organic farm that raises food for the local community.

On Sunday, July 29th at 2:30 AM, we were awoken in the farmhouse by the light and crackling sound of of fire. Our hay baler had burst into flames. The Farmington Fire Department was able to safely extinguish the flames without further damage to the farm, and thankfully no one was hurt. Baler fires can happen when bits of residual hay and grease get too hot from the inner workings of the machine.

Our baler is a total loss and the insurance company will pay us only a portion of its replacement cost.

Our second cutting of hay is coming up shortly in September and we rely on this hay to feed our herd of 50 grass-fed Belted Galloways.

We are asking for help to raise funds to purchase a new (used) baler from a local dealer as soon as we can to get back out to do our second cutting.

Thank you for your help.
