Styrobert, my dear friend whom I consider family, was unexpectedly taken into custody at his yearly ICE check-in appointment on July 14, 2026 in Baltimore, MD. This was a shock to everyone, especially since he appeared with his attorney and has consistently checked in for the past four years. Despite valid arguments and proof of a pending asylum petition, the ICE officer was determined to take him into custody after insulting Styrobert's attorney and aggressively forcing Styrobert into a seperate room. He proceeded to aggressively confiscate Styrobert's phone and wallet and strip him of his clothes.

Styrobert is a defected military officer who fled Venezuela in 2019, fearing for his life after witnessing & bravely opposing the rampant corruption within the government and military ranks as well as the human rights violations towards the people of Venezuela. If the U.S. deports him, his life will be in grave danger. He will be imprisoned as he is considered an "Enemy of the State". Venezuela's prisons are notorious for their severe treatment of political prisoners and the use of torture.

Styrobert was transferred on 7/14 out of ICE Baltimore to ICE Detention Center in Farmville, Virginia. At 1:00am on 7/17, he was transferred out to the Richmond ICE processing center and then onto Wynn Detention Center in Louisiana where he arrived almost 24 hours later.

On 7/17, his attorney filed a Habeus Corpus Petition and on 7/19, he filed a Temporary Restraining Order to try & prevent further transfers or deportation.

These were filed in Virginia The legal costs are overwhelming. But, every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference in Styrobert’s fight for safety and justice.
