Help Students Meet Author Amber Clement
Donation protected

Through generous donations from the community, my high school students were able to read the newly released book Fortune's Kiss by Amber Clement. A story of fantasy, secrets, and all the drama, my kids gobbled it up page by page, analyzing themes, discussing real-world connections, and creating culturally responsive artwork. They loved the book so much that when I asked them if they would want to meet the author, it was a resounding YES!
Unfortunately, as happens often in education, my school could not raise the funding to make the author visit happen. However, I am not the teacher to give up, and I really want to make this happen for my students. None of them have ever met an author before, and for many of them, this could be a defining moment when it comes to an interest in literacy, a future career choice, or just feeling involved in something new.
Here are some of the lifelong benefits you would be giving my kids by donating to my fundraiser and making this author visit happen:
1. Improved Reading & Writing Skills: Meeting an author can motivate kids to read and write.
2. Expanded Imagination: Authors can inspire kids to create their own stories and worlds.
3. Personal Connections: Students get to ask questions, learn more about the creation process, and feel involved beyond being told to read something.
4. Broader Cultural Awareness: Authors share their personal stories and testimonials, allowing kids who look or live like them to be seen and heard and allowing kids to gain new perspectives on life and culture.
