Help Stu MacRobbie with new shop & place to live

Donation protected

Hi, my name is Gavin Campbell, I was born and raised in Lahaina and have been friends with Stu Macrobbie for nearly 30 years. Stu is a legendary surfer and shaper here in our hometown of Lahaina and has been holding down Mala surf break since 1969. Sadly, like so many others, Stu lost everything in the tragic wildfires that decimated most of historic Lahaina town last week.

This includes his shaping shop where he also lived, all of his tried and true surfboard templates, his tools, his balsa wood, his photos, his records, every single thing vital for him to not only make a living, but for him to also feel like a human being, not last, a roof over his head. He barely escaped with his life and a few of his prized balsa guns that he shaped with his good friend, the late Dick Brewer.

There were rumors that Stu had perished in the fire but thankfully we found him living out of his truck in the Cannery mall parking lot. With no food, no gas, and very little hope for his future.

Stu has been a staple here in Lahiana for well over 50 years and I hope that with your help this legend can not only live on but thrive in this new rebuilding phase of his life.

I have spent the last few days with Stu and like the rest of the survivors, he is really struggling with the heartbreak of everyone's collective loss as well as the loss of this town that he has called home for most of his life. Daily, he asks about all his friends and wants to know that they are all accounted for and that they are okay.

I think it's fair to say that Stu is a complex individual, that might be putting it gently. But to those of us that really know him. truely know him, we all know that he has a Huge heart and that he cares deeply for his friends and for this place and community that will never be the same.

If you would like to kokua Stu and show him some aloha he could surely use it. Even though he was one of the most stylish mofo's to ever ride a longboard and arguably one of the best longboard and wooden surfboard builders in the world, he is surprisingly humble...He will not ask this for himself, that is what his friends are for.

Please help our dear friend to start anew. There is no way he can ever have any semblance of a normal life without our help.
