Help us take care of former stray momma Hope and her 14 puppies! Last week I learned about a Good Samaritan named Rhonda who was temporarily in Tijuana being treated for ovarian cancer that found a very sick and malnourished pregnant dog wandering the streets.

My dog was a former stray from Tijuana and I couldn’t turn my back on this baby. She was so emaciated I knew her and puppies wouldn’t make it without immediate help. However, I was in LA and didn’t even know how I could help.

Miraculously, someone connected me with Allison who helped us find a transporter to get momma to the vet. Rhonda was able to help get her in a car, and momma went into labor the same night! We saved her just in the nick of time!

Rhonda named this new momma Hope, and she delivered EIGHTEEN babies! Unfortunately four didn’t make it, but fourteen did. None of us were expecting such a huge litter!

This whole scenario has been very unexpected. We pulled Hope off the street knowing there wasn’t a long term plan for her but we absolutely couldn’t leave her for dead. Hope’s rescue team is asking for financial help to care for this beautiful new family while we figure out next steps, get her and her babies much needed medical care, keep them in a safe location, look for rescue backing and a foster family, and eventually transport the dogs across the border.

Hope and her babies are currently under the care of Dr. Padilla in Tijuana and will be transported to a boarding facility that can assist with bottle feeding while we look for a qualified and responsible foster. The woman who found Hope is looking forward to adopting her as soon as possible.

It’s truly a Christmas miracle we saved Hope the day she went into labor. Last week I didn’t even know Rhonda or Allison, and now we are Hope’s rescue team that is committed to saving this family and seeing them thrive. The three of us went into this blindly with no long term plan for Hope, but everything has been coming together one step a time so far, and we are so grateful.
