Help Stray Cats in Türkiye and Their Caregiver Leyla

Hi, my name is Melike. I’m an animal rights activist originally from Turkey, now based in London. I’m fundraising for Leyla, whom I've known since 2017 and the stray cats she’s been caring for with love and dedication for over 40 years.

Leyla left her hometown many years ago due to domestic abuse, and since then, she has become a guardian angel for the stray animals in her neighborhood. Despite her traumatic past, she has poured her heart into protecting and feeding cats and dogs in need.

Leyla has no stable income, relying only on occasional support from kind-hearted animal lovers. Unfortunately, that’s not enough to cover her basic living expenses—including food, rent, and bills.

She also suffers from serious health conditions, including heart disease and asthma, yet she still manages to feed the cats every morning and evening and even in extreme weather conditions without fail. Her devotion to them is unwavering, but she urgently needs help—both for herself and for the animals who depend on her.

She urgently needs regular donations to cover her basic living expenses, medical needs, and the ongoing care of hundreds of stray cats she looks after, both on the streets and in her tiny one-room home.

The cats in her care require food, litter, and medication, and many of them suffer from injuries caused by car accidents or are battling serious illnesses, all of which require veterinary attention.

Also, feeding this many animals is a massive task, and she needs a substantial amount of cat food every day to ensure none of them go hungry.
