Help save Bonney & Glyde (street cats with FELV)
Donation protected
This fundraiser is for helping the stray cats from a poorly cared for cat colony in Abu Dhabi, UAE. These cats are living out in the streets and exposed to the harsh weather of UAE without any proper care and support from anyone, there is no TNR for them, rarely have fresh clean water and are not fed regularly to help them survive. THEY NEED OUR HELP!

We are a collective of rescuers from all over UAE trying to help cats in need (one life at a time), and we chanced upon this poorly cared for colony. Meet Bonney (a.k.a Ms Bones): Rescued just in time, malnourished, sickly, and still so sweet and trusting.

We found her among this emaciated, poorly-cared-for cat colony at one golf range in Abu Dhabi, weighing a mere 2kg for being a full grown adult. Among about 15 cats, she was all skin and bones as she tried to follow us around. We quickly brought her to the vet, only to find out she has FeLV (a contagious leukemia virus among cats), and she cannot be released back to the colony. She was also severely dehydrated, malnourished, riddled with gum infection, and the vet rated her body condition a worrying 1 out of 10. She is fighting hard for a second chance at life. Despite all the stress, fear and pain, she is gentle and sweet, always greeting with us head rubs. She's simply grateful to be saved, and safe at last.

This is not the only cat that needs rescuing, just last month, we rescued Sweetie, an older tabby cat from the same Golf colony. She was found right at death’s door lying outside the public toilet, her mouth dripping with blood. Many walked past her, some even tried to feed her, but nobody thought to provide her with the medical help she needed likewise Bonney. We rushed Sweetie to the vet, who diagnosed her with stage 4 kidney failure and FeLV. There must have been a FeLV outbreak in the colony, and most, if not all the cats, are infected. The vet told us that euthanising Sweetie the next day would be the kindest thing to do at this stage, as she was too far gone. In the hours in between, we tried to make her last moments as warm and comfortable as possible.

(Seen in photo: Sweetie who was found outside the public toilet waiting for death to come for her. She was in immense pain and suffering, bleeding from her mouth, unable to eat)

Sweetie passed away before we returned to say goodbye the next day. We couldn't stop thinking about how we could have saved her, and many more of the Golf colony cats, if we had just come together earlier, and given them the treatment and care they needed.
We didn’t manage to save Sweetie, but it’s not too late for sweet Bonney, and the rest of the Golf colony - yet. Bonney even has a bonded half, Glyde (a.k.a Garfield), who is suffering in silence back at the range still. We hope that by raising funds we can help him too and perhaps the other cats there who needs it.
The Golf colony kitties NEED US! Please help and support this fundraiser.
550 USD - Estimated vet bills for 1 cat between 5 to 10 days, with blood tests, treatments, and all other feline tests. We are expecting the need to send at least 3 cats for treatments that could cost more than 550 USD.
500 USD - Goes to payment for sending a cat to a potential Adopter in USA. (if an adopter is found in US)
950 USD - Goes to payment for sending a cat to a potential Adopter in UK. (if an adopter is found in UK)
55 USD - For Cat food supplies for 2 weeks (we plan to continue providing food for this colony of cats indefinitely)
190 USD - For spay and release for 1 cat [we are expecting to take the entire colony of cats (estimated 8 to 10 cats) for TNR]
**All fund raised will go to paying for the meals of this colony or for any cat that requires medical treatment as well as paying for their flight for overseas adoption.
