Help Stormy See For Longer!

Hey, I'm Raven, and the above is my dog, Stormy. Stormy's a tough old lady that's lived with my family for the better part of a decade, and we love her more than anything. Those that know us personally have heard tale of her (often irritating yet always entertaining) exploits, or seen photos of her being the epitome of Unbothered and Emo.

In the past few years, she's developed severe problems with Glaucoma, resulting in the loss of her left eye. We were able to give her some relief via an initial surgery to remove the eye about 2 years ago, but unfortunately, the problem is back in a new and frightening way. This past week (2/2), the pressure in her remaining eye spiked out of nowhere, causing her to go temporarily blind. We rushed her to the vet for an emergency check to try and get the pressure down, and thankfully succeeded, but we were given sobering news. While we were smart to have her seen as quickly as possible, according to the ER vet and her ophthalmologist, pressure spikes like this are almost sure to continue without surgical intervention.

We were told that without immediate surgery to place a valve in her eye to continually reduce pressure, Stormy will more than likely go totally blind in less than 6 months. However, if we do the surgery, she could have her sight for upwards of another 5 years.

The high end estimate for the surgery is over 6k, not including any medicine she would need for recovery. While we have pet insurance, the initial cost is gonna suck exponentially, especially after dealing with a recent car repair expense. I'd be lying if I said that I didn't feel bad about having to ask for help, but this isn't about me or my feelings; it's about doing whatever I can to help Stormy's quality of life.
