Help Stop Ongoing Desecration of Cree Land & Water

The Water, Land, Fish, Wildlife, Communities, and the Indigenous People barely survived the Churchill River Diversion's effects and the annual fluctuations to South Indian Lake, with the Augmented Flow Program (AFP) the fourth largest lake in Manitoba. Manitoba Hydro was granted the CRD Interim Licence in 1973, granted annual permission to deviate from that Licence with AFP since 1986.
On May 13, 2021, the PC government granted Manitoba Hydro a Final License for the Churchill River Diversion Project with AFP parameters, which will allow them to continue to destroy the land and waters, with little relief and questionable need.
Manitoba omitted the condition for Manitoba Hydro to mitigate all Impacts in the Final Licence! A Licence to Destroy!
Manitoba has not consulted with O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation and Tataskweyak Cree Nation prior to doing so, this may be in violation of section 35 of the Canadian Constitution, which requires consultation regarding potential impacts on Aboriginal & Treaty Rights and Accommodation of those Impacts! The Rights need to be protected along with the People, Water, Land & Wildlife.
We are asking you to help the following organizations raise funds for legal fees:
O-Pipon-Na-Piwin Cree Nation (OPCN)
Tataskweyak Cree Nation (TCN)
Community Association of South Indian Lake (CASIL)
South Indian Lake Fishermen’s Association
For more than 40 years, the government of Manitoba and Manitoba Hydro have destroyed the land, water, commercial fishing industry, and the collective livelihoods of the Indigenous communities connected to the Churchill River.
Your support will allow our people to take this issue to court, which is an option for recourse. If Manitoba Hydro is not stopped from continuing to flood our lands, with no meaningful substantial change, we as a people will not survive. Future generations will be doomed to a dismal future. Ecosystems and environment will be damaged beyond repair!
The harm caused to date is massive and will continue with no meaningful change! Action is needed, with your help.
