Help Stop a Growing Cat Colony

Donation protected

Update:  During our first Spay Day, we were able to fully examine, combo test, vaccinate, treat and alter 23 cats. Of those brought in, there were 8 pregnant females totaling 36 kittens!  It's a harsh reality for cats living in large colonies, they easily become impregnated which adds significanty to the cat suplus problem!  Alteration is the ONLY proven method of pet overpopulation! There are more of these colony cats out there and financial support is still needed to stop this growing colony! Six cats were removed and are in foster care.

Story:  We were made aware of a home in Wayne County, New York that had developed a cat surplus problem due to irresponsible pet owners who did not care to alter their cat AND decided to discard them when the novelty of owning an animal wore off! These creatures are left to fight for survival and attempt to find food wherever they can. For these lucky kitties, their search ended at a kind Gentleman's home in Walworth, NY.  His home, set close to a VERY busy road, has few neighbors and is surrounded by marsh land. These details suggest that these abandoned cats had to walk a distance and through dangerous terrain to get to this man's home. The details of how they got there seem so irrelevant to them at this point...what matters most to them now is they are getting food, water and a very warm place to stay. Unfortunately, all them come to this man's home unaltered and many of the females pregnant. Over time, this colony of cats has multiplied! There are close to 40 cats in this colony!  We will be working with Macedon Verterinary Care, a local Animal Hospital and Kitten Korner Rescue to spay/neuter, vaccinate, provide flea applications, and provide an antibiotic injection to every cat in the home. Most of the felines have an Upper Respiratory Infection. Some cats will be adopted out and will need a combo test (Felv/FIV) before going to a new home. Many cats are Siamese Mix. We have worked out a budget with Macedon Veterinary Care and will provide all our donors with an update on this situation. We are looking to raise our funds within the upcoming weeks as mating season is upon us. Even the smallest donations help. Please consider!
