On July 2nd, 2026, Esther unexpectedly but peacefully left us here on earth. In her far too short life, she accomplished more than any doctor imagined possible, but one of her biggest accomplishments was reading over 2,000 books in under four years.

In her memory, Garrett's Place will be opening a library where foster and adoptive kids and youth like Esther can choose books to keep. I want to honor Esther by stocking the library with brand-new copies of her favorite books, because all kids deserve new things. Even a donation of a couple of dollars will help reach this goal.

"Why do we tell stories? To try to make sense of a world that can be terrifying and enormous... I don't know that your story will long be known. I don't know who will remain to tell it. But it did happen, and it did matter." Esther's life happened, and it mattered.
