Help Stitch Get the Care He Needs

***LAST UPDATE***
Today was Stitch follow up appointment where they needed to draw blood to re check his kidney values. Thankfully, his kidney values were still normal and he was given the all clear and no longer needs to go back to the vet. We dodged a huge bullet here and thank you all for your generosity and prayers through one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced.

***UPDATE***
First off, THANK YOU, to all of you who have donated. Words cannot express how grateful I am for your generosity and support. The guilt I feel has been overwhelming, so thank you so much.

Today was officially the 48 hour mark. Stitch had blood work done daily to monitor his kidney values which thankfully remained normal. He was on IV fluids the entire 48 hours to flush his system, as well as several stomach medications to protect his stomach and throat from ulcers that could form due to the ingested ibuprofen. We continue to hope and pray that we got him there right after it happened, since he hadn't shown any symptoms yet. Soon as we got there they induced vomiting and administered the charcoal and IV right away.

The entire time he was there, we were told he was in good spirits. No vomiting, no diarrhea, eating all his food and waiting for love and attention from anyone who would give it.

The vet called today and said it was safe to take him home due to his normal kidney values and lack of symptoms. We will have to take him back for blood work a couple more times, as ibuprofen recycles in the system for up to 3-5 days, and could cause a delayed reaction. He will need to remain on stomach meds to protect from ulcers for two more weeks.

Thankfully he didn't need the full 72 hour stay, which kept costs down, but high enough, especially with follow up blood work he needs, lol. Care Credit bailed me out temporarily, with a 33% interest rate if I can't pay it all in 6 months. This along with college tuition will be a struggle, and the last thing I want to do is burden my parents with something that I view as my responsibility. Intro to adulthood!

Please continue to pray with us, that we reach that 5 day mark with continued normal labs and no delayed reactions. This was definitely a HUGE scare for me and my family, and a lesson definitely learned about not taking any chances and the determination of dogs to get into things they aren't supposed to.

Thank you all again for your kindness and generosity. I am humbled by it, along with feelings of humility. It's truly an overwhelming feeling of fear and sadness to almost lose such a precious fur baby and I will forever be grateful for all of you!

I'm starting this go fund me for my dog Stitch and his medical bills. He got into medication (ibuprofen) that was in my closed bag and I never thought he’d get to it. NSAIDS are toxic to dogs and cats. Because of that, he’s been admitted into the Waipahu Waikele Pet Hospital where they are recommending 48-72 hours so they can watch and treat him with fluids, stomach and nausea meds and charcoal. The biggest risk is to his kidneys and blood work for that. Typically the blood work wouldn’t show much until the 48-72 hour mark. So even if I brought him home, he wouldn’t be out of the woods yet. And I wouldn’t know without consistent blood work If his kidneys suffered any damage. I currently don’t have the means to pay his medical bills. I’m leaving for a college program in Florida soon and work part time right now as a lifeguard. It’s a horribly helpless feeling right now having to decide how much of his care I can afford. He is my first dog and I’m worried sick about him. I’ve had him since he was able to fit in my hand and now he’s 1 and a half years old. He is my son and i just want him to get the proper care and treatment he needs to be sure he’ll be ok. I’m Praying I got him to the vet in time. I feel so horrible and guilty and so much worry for his well being. I don’t want to resort to asking anyone for help but the reality is I need the help. Anything helps me at this point. Even if it’s prayers.
