Hi, I'm Stevie(you may know me as Starling!) and I’m a trans woman raising money so that I can get Facial Feminization Surgery(FFS) and to continue to receive on-going gender affirming care.

Most gender affirming care(HRT, FFS, hair removal, speech therapy etc) is not covered in the province of BC, making it difficult to access for so many trans folks.

In the two years since I've come out as transgender I have had incredible difficulties finding and keeping a job, and when I do I am frequently not met with the basic respect and support most others receive in similar positions. I have been relying on gig work and family members for support, as well as starting a small business selling handmade jewelry - but that has only gotten me so far. Because of all this I have made the difficult decision to put myself out there and reach out to the community for support.

Preparing for FFS includes paying out of pocket for multiple doctors consultations, testing and MRI's. Since there are only 2 surgeons in Canada that perform this surgery, in Toronto and Montreal, the cost of travel and accommodation will also be paid out-of-pocket.
