Hi, my name is Jessica and I’m reaching out for support for my sweet pup, Stevie, who is about to undergo his second major knee surgery.
Stevie is just over a year old, and in his short life, he has already been through more than most dogs ever will. At only 5 months old, he had surgery on his right knee after breaking his tibial crest. Now, his left knee is dislocated and needs urgent surgical repair so he can live a pain-free, happy life.
My daughter and I adopted Stevie from the SPCA when he was just 3 months old. He had already spent 2 months there, mostly ignored because of his physical disabilities. Stevie has malformed back paws, narrow hips, two curved femurs, a hole in the roof of his mouth, and indentations in his skull. He came from a remote northern community where it’s believed he lost his mother during birth, leaving him malnourished and attacked by other dogs. Understandably, he was terrified of dogs when I first brought him home.
But Stevie is a fighter — and a lover.
He has come so far from that fearful puppy. Today, he’s a cuddly, playful, and incredibly sweet dog. He’s still a little unsure around large dogs, particularily Huskies, but otherwise loves meeting both dogs and humans alike. He has a curious, energetic spirit and a heart of gold.
My dream is to train Stevie as a therapy dog to work with children in schools. He’s already been visiting the school I work at, helping support students with anxiety and building empathy through his presence. The kids adore him, and he brings so much light into every room he enters.
Unfortunately, his upcoming surgery is estimated at $7,000, and I’ve already paid $1,500 for a CT scan to help the surgical team understand his unique anatomy.
If you’re in a position to help — even a small amount — it would mean the world to both of us. Your support will directly help give Stevie the pain-free, mobile future he deserves, and allow him to continue his journey to becoming a therapy dog who gives back to others.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading our story.
With gratitude,
Jessica, Gwen, & Stevie ❤️
