.....LOCAL MUSICIAN NEEDS YOUR HELP......
Stephen (Steve) Springer has been a visible influence in the Spokane music industry for over 55 years. Born in Elizabethtown, Indiana he has lived and worked in the Spokane area since the early 50’s. Steve is a well-known bass guitar musician beginning at 13 with such bands as Skinnyboy, Breezy, Voyage, Wizzard, Rendezvous, Cool Stack, Madrigal, Gladhammer and Smash Hit Carnival. He was also an active Sound Engineer for several local bands in the 80’s. In addition, he has recently retired from Hoffman Music after 34 years as a sales associate and in electronics repair and was involved for a number of years with the set-up for Hoopfest in downtown Spokane.
Steve has been through some hard things in his life. He is a cancer survivor and lost part of his foot to amputation several years ago. He has been an active part of several local churches and has played in their worship services. Most recently he has been involved with Orchard Christian Fellowship and has not only played in their services, but over the years has been involved in electronics and sound set up.
Recently he has been experiencing a neurological problem that has severely affected the use of his hands and has caused a loss of movement and feeling in his hands and lower extremities. He is currently 70 years old and can no longer work or play the instruments he has loved for so many years. He has had a series of MRI’s and other tests and needs surgery immediately to relieve the pain and restore the mobility he has lost. Even with insurance coverage, a large portion of the surgeries will not be sufficiently covered by Medicare. He will need to cover a very large deductible and most likely a visiting nurse while he recovers.
Without this surgery Steve is facing possible total paralysis. He is single and lives alone. Life has become impossible for him without this life-saving surgery. I am reaching out to Steve’s community, friends, fellow band members, and family for any help you may be able to give. Steve will be eternally grateful for your generosity.
