Help Steven Matto after leg amputation surgeries

Steven Matto (From The Scene Photography), is my husband and father of 4 children, including a 3 year old daughter, and is the sole income of our family. On December 26th 2021, he was taken by ambulance to Presby hospital in Oakland, Pa., where they had to amputate his left foot due to an infection.

 

The infection ate away at the bones in his foot, and he also had a severe blood infection. The infection worked it's way into the bones in the calf, and 5 surgeries later, he had to have his leg amputated above the knee. He was also diagnosed with double Covid pneumonia after the first surgery. After 7 weeks in the hospital, he is finally home, but his financial compensation benefits won't be enough, the medical bills have piled up, and we will need to purchase a prosthetic limb as the healing process proceeds. He also requires home care and physical therapy, and It will be months until he will have enough mobility to return to work, do routine daily functions, and be able to play with his daughter.

 

If you know Steven he would help anybody with anything. He has dedicated his time to his family, his job, photography, and dozens of fire departments. He has made over a thousand fire calls, training sessions, live burns, parades, holiday functions, fundraisers, photo sessions, and anything else imaginable to assist the local area departments, covering from Pittsburgh, to Greensburg, to Kittanning, and anywhere in between over the last seven years. It is truly a passion that he absolutely loves.

 

This is going to be a long and hard uphill battle to get back to any kind of normal life, but doctors feel confident that he has the motivation, strength, and drive to regain having a fully functional life.

 

It's really hard for us to put this out there or to even think about asking the world for help, but unfortunately our family is really struggling at this time, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
