Help Steven get to Calgary: Lead Youth Nationals

Hello everybody! My is name Steven and I just qualified to go to Youth Lead Nationals !!

This is my first year in Youth A (ages 16-17). I’ve been climbing things since I could walk and competing in indoor rock climbing competitions for the past nine years. This season has been an amazing one for me! I ended the 2022/23 Ontario Climbing Federation Season on a high note - earning a silver medal in my age category for Overall Ranking (speed, lead, and bouldering) and being invited to represent Ontario in this year’s Youth National Lead championships in Calgary, Alberta!!

I am a busy grade 10 student:  academics, climbing, Ventures, camping, volunteering, family and friends fill my life with rewarding/enriching experiences.

I am so happy to be part of the amazing Team at Reach Indoor Climbing in Aurora, Ontario. Brandon Barraclough and Emily Vincent, my coaches, have been an integral part of my climbing journey. The continuous support they have provided to me has helped me in so many facets of my life.

One of the reasons I love climbing is because of the community. Sincere encouragement, a sense of family, and lasting friendships across teams and ages makes me feel like I’m part of something truly amazing. I am so excited to not only compete with my peers across the country but also develop new friendships from all over Canada over the Victoria day long weekend in May at the world renowned Calgary Climbing Centre.

My exciting venture to Calgary will give me lots of new experiences and opportunities. I have been saving money for this trip but unfortunately this won’t be enough to cover all the costs, so I have created this fundraiser to help me get to Calgary. My goal: $3300 to help cover registration fees, flights, accommodation, transportation and food for the duration of the competition.
