Hello, my name is Steven France. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Approximately four months ago, the HR department of my job grew concerned by the fact that I was limping on one foot. I stand at a dishwashing station and do dishes all day, so I don't use that foot unless I have been asked to do something else by my boss. HR did not believe the information my doctor gave me regarding my foot and proceeded to contact my doctor directly behind my back.
He provided them with a list of limitations that he wanted me to participate in, which included my wearing a brace and taking medication (which I already do and was what I had told them I was doing). He also wanted me to work four hours on my feet and four hours off my feet, but they refused to accommodate the list. Instead, they cut my hours in half, and I was forced to work four-hour shifts for a couple of months.
This caused me to fall far behind on my rent payments. I'm giving my landlord most of my paycheck each week in an attempt to catch up, but it's not happening fast enough. Additionally, I'm being forced to pay a late fee, which is 8% of the unpaid rental balance. I am in desperate need of help. I don't want to be evicted, as finding a different place to live with an eviction on file will be difficult. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated by me. Thank you.
