Steven and his wife Calla are considered a couple of my closest friends. I have worked with Steven for a few years helping veterans reacclimate and rebuild that lost camaraderie through the outdoors. He is hardworking and dedicated to not only his community but his family. Calla, working two jobs herself, is equally passionate about the outdoors and her dogs.
Steven and Calla moved back to Michigan in late 2024 due to a death in the family. At the beginning of 2025, Steven lost his job, and Calla at the time was the only one working. Steve was able to find a job, but of course, the bills don’t stop. Working to recover, Steve and Calla have been helping take care of Calla's mom due to some health issues as well. Of course, when it rains, it pours. A few weeks ago, Calla herself had a very bad accident that resulted in her breaking her back. Surgery is scheduled, but she is now unable to work at all until after the surgery and recovery. Steven’s truck is in the shop, so making it to work and Calla’s mom is much harder. With Calla having surgery and physical therapy coming up, he is going to need a working vehicle.
Steven and Calla are now facing a possible eviction, mounting medical debt between the two, and vehicles that need repair so Steven can keep getting to work. Steven and Calla are not extravagant by any means and are very private about their life. As a friend and fellow veteran, I cannot let and or watch another struggle. All donations will go to Steve and Calla to help them get back on their feet.
