Help Steve with Hotel and Meal Costs

Dear friends and supporters, we are reaching out to share our journey and seek your support through CaringBridge's GoFundMe feature.
Many years ago, I learned a lesson from my mother, beyond the normal sit still, and be quiet. After my dad died in Jan of 1970, she was alone with five children. We were asked to leave the parsonage. The farmers could not get in the fields because of the inclement weather so they had time to help us move. They loaded us up and we moved into a rented home. People would give us food and other things to help us. I made a comment to her about accepting the help. Her response was “Don’t deny a person the pleasure of using their gift of giving to help others”. Those words still resonate with me.
We have not been able to go back home or to our church family since Feb 14 of this year. We have basically lived in hotels. We have had numerous requests to start a GoFundMe on CaringBridge or gift cards. The Lord has graciously provided for us. The heart transplant costs have been covered by our insurance. However, our insurance does not cover food and lodging. Initially, I struggled with this idea, feeling it might be pride holding me back. After discussing and praying about it with my family, we decided to follow my mother's advice (she would be shocked!) We are turning on the gift card and GoFundMe features on CaringBridge. It's not easy for me to do this.
CaringBridge recommends setting a goal for contributions. Again, this is a struggle for me. So far, we have spent about 125 nights in hotels. We have about another 60 nights to go here in MN. If you are led by the Lord to give it would be a blessing. If you would pray that is also a blessing.
In Him and for His Glory,
Steve
