Seven years ago, at the young age of 43, our amazing family member, Steve was first diagnosed with something that nobody EVER wants to hear. The "C" word. Cancer. A very rare form of appendix cancer.
After an outpouring of love, lots of prayers, and undergoing chemo and surgery, he was able to beat it.
Five months ago, he knew something wasn't quite right. He went to the Dr. for tests and his suspicions were confirmed and again, he had to hear that awful word.
Unfortunately, the cancer came back. It has metastasized to his Omentum. Another rare form. The omentum is one of the human body’s largest organs, but also one of the least familiar. It is a sheet of fatty tissue that stretches over the abdomen and plays a major role in immune response.
After 5 months of strong chemo and an exploratory surgery, it has been determined that he has a mixed grade of tumors.
On Wednesday, February 5th, Steve will have a surgery to remove the cancer and have a hyper chemotherapy treatment. This surgery will take 14-16 hours with a two-week stay in the hospital and a 4-6 month recovery period. This will be followed by more chemotherapy a month after his surgery, due to the grade of the tumors.
Steve has a beautiful family. A wife who adores him and four children ranging in age from 12 -20; three of whom are in college. Steve is the primary provider for his family. He owns his own construction company, but the cancer has taken its toll physically, and he is unable to work.
The cost of treating cancer is very expensive, especially with the temporary loss of income. We need help to allow him to get through treatment without added financial stress.
Please consider donating to this amazing, humble man who has the biggest heart.
This is for a man who has always donated to as many charities and fundraisers as he was able to. It is very difficult for him to accept monetary help from anyone. As his family, we decided to start this fundraiser for him.
Steve cares so much about everyone that he truly would give someone the shirt off of his own back if they needed it.
Please keep the love, light, positive energy and prayers aimed in his direction.
Please share with your friends so we can help support Steve in this battle.
